Seriously, open or closed toed?

September 11th, 2008

Yes, this is by far the LEAST important topic/question raised thus far on this blog…but it is top of mind as I need to go buy shoes this week! I go in for final dress fittings and they want me to bring my shoes with me. Look at all these options! Considering 4 out of 6 of the images shown are peek-a-boo, I think you might have an idea of what I like. I just hope I can wear peek-a-boos in November, however I know it totally breaks the “no open toe after Labor Day” rule.  Thoughts?  :o)  Bridesmaids can wear whatever style they want as well. They don’t have all to match…as long as they are black dress shoes, that’s fine with me!Option 1Option 2Option 4Option 6Option 5option 8

I guess I’m already breaking the “no white after Labor Day” so why not break the open toe rule too. ha ha

My shoes (in November) were open-toe. I only wore them for the ceremony and then switched to ‘wedge’ white flip-flops (so i wouldn’t drop in height). No one could really see my shoes anyway…and I also stressed about the decision. I would go for comfort with that being the case.

Just my 2 cents…I still loved my shoes though. lol

My dear sister, believe me, you want to stick with comfort!! I love all of those shoe styles (you know I love shoes). The first pair in the bottom row is my favorite but probably the least practical for the wedding day. You may not want to mess with an ankle strap while in your wedding dress. A slip-on, like the middle pairs in the top and bottom rows may be a better choice (just my opinion, sis). :) As Holly did, MANY brides slip on white wedge flip flops for the night…may want to keep a pair handy “just in case”. Oh, and the open-toe rule, Oprah says, “Wear want you want - be it open toe shoes or white pants after Labor Day - just be comfortable and be happy!”….and I know you are one very happy bride-to-be!

This is all very helpful. I didn’t think about how straps might be a pain to deal with while wearing the dress. I don’t think my bridesmaids will want to buckle my shoes for me…on top of everything else!

If you like peek-a-books - WEAR THEM. There’s no rule about that anymore as far as I’m aware. For what it’s worth, I especially love the top middle and bottom right and middle pics. Very hot! Definitely bring another more comfortable pair for the reception, though. A limping bride somehow loses the charm. ;)

I think peek-a-boo’s win. The problem now is that I went “looking” tonight and not many stores have white shoes in stock. Only the higher end department stores have them and are selling them at a premium price, as they know after Labor Day, the only females buying white shoes are BRIDES. I swear, the bridal business makes a killing off us suckers!

I wore comfortable shoes even during the ceremony … no one can see your shoes anyway.

My vote is for the shoe on the bottom right. I love that shoe!

I’m a big fan of the bottom right and maybe the bottom middle. The top three are all Kate Spade shoes…which means they are all too expensive!

I never thought SHOES would get so many comments! :)

FYI - I ended up buying something very similar to the bottom right shoe. Thanks for all your feedback!
