We did the Sandals thing and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it! :) Anyone I know who has done Sandals, has really enjoyed it! It is a resort, but you don't have to just sit if you don't want to. Matt and I honestly didn't sit on the beach more than 1 or 2 days. We did the excursions (horseback riding, cable tour through the jungle, boat ecursion, bus tour, shopping). Wherever you go, you will have blast. I loved our wedding so much, and the honeymoon was just the "cherry on top!" It's just so nice to get away and have nothing to worry about! St. Lucia is amazing! My parents and I have been going to the resorts there for over 7 years now, more than twice a year at times even. If you like commercial areas with lots of shopping, bars/clubs, and people, then Cancun might be ideal. If you like to stay at a resort that offers everything and relax by the beach, I would recommend Mayan Riviera. (You can still take some really cool excursions). Cancun is very close flight from Cincinnati and Mayan Riviera is not too far away from the Cancun airport. If you want some suggestions about hotels, email me. Check out tripadvisor.com for reviews.
